Hike - Antica Via Valeriana

Antica Via Valeriana (old Valeriana route) is an historical path-
way rediscovered and tracked for modern hikers in 2018. it
extends for 140 km from lake iseo to Val Camonica. in Edolo
it splits into two branches: one going to aprica pass, the other
towards Tonale pass. we will enjoy the first stretch of Via Vale-
riana, all along lake iseo, between the tiny villages of Pilzone
and Marone. we will walk through country paths, encoun-
tering olive groves, hamlets, and churches… a gentle up and
down hike along lake iseo, with great scenic spots overlook-
ing Montisola and the surrounding mountains.

Meeting time and place: 8:15 am at Milano Centrale railway
station, at the front of the platform of regional train 2617
headed to Verona Porta nuova. 8:25 am train to Brescia (arr.
9:31 am). 10:06 am train to Pilzone (arr. 10:33 am).
Hike: Pilzone (m 195), Tassano (m 320), Maspiano (m 350),
gandizzano (m 355), Marasino (m 260), dosso (m 265),
Massenziano (m 240), Pregasso (m 250), Marone (m 200).
Picnic lunch.
To come back: 5:14 pm train from Marone-Zone to Brescia
(arr 5:53 pm). 6:28 pm, train to Milano Centrale (arr 7:35 pm).
Difficulty: easy; ascent: 350 m; descent: 350 m; walking time
(excluding stops): 4 hrs; 11km
Equipment: daily backpack, trekking boots and socks or good
running shoes, trekking poles (if you use them), comfortable
clothes in layers (T-shirt, jumpsuit), rain jacket, 1 liter bottle of
water (canteen), packed lunch, identity card
Cost: €25 (includes insurance, does not include train tickets)
