Sasso Preguda is an impressive errat-
ic boulder perched on a panoramic
slope above Lake Como, overlooking
the city of Lecco. it is so massive that
a small church has been built against
it, using the rock as a natural wall.
our hike will start in Piazza rossé, in
Valmadrera, and climb quite steep-
ly for about an hour until we reach a
magnificent viewpoint. after descend-
ing, we’ll head to a special place for
lunch: Cascina don Guanella, a social
farming project that trains and em-
ploys young people at risk of social ex-
clusion. The food is excellent, too!
after lunch, we’ll make our way back
to Lecco along the beautiful lakeside
promenade in Malgrate and through
Lecco’s charming city center. For
those who prefer a shorter day, it’s
also possible to take a bus after lunch
and catch an earlier train back.
Departure: 8:10 am at Milano Cen-
trale railway station, at the front of
the platform of regional train 2816
headed to Tirano. at 8:20 am train
to Lecco (arr. 8:59 am). at 9:45 am
bus to Valmadrera (arr. 10:10am).

Lunch cost: €30 (selection of cured
meats and cheeses from the farm, ta-
gliatelle with Fassona beef ragù (tast-
ing portion), meat-free ravioli (tasting
portion), water and coffee
